Expectation has been building on industry to act in providing environmentally friendly plastic straws supply — to help curb the long-term impact of plastics on the environment.
Heeding the corporate responsibility call is Alcolizer Technology – who have replaced all supplies of plastic straw mouthpieces with only environmentally biodegradable ones: OXO-biodegradable, PLA and Paper.
These straws provide the same experience as plastic straws – same tensile strength, size and durability.
Should one of these find itself in an open environment, it will after 48 hours of sunlight and oxygen, become brittle like and eventually degrade to CO² and Biomass.
Importantly for Alcolizer customers, the new and more environmentally friendly “OXO-BIO” straws will come at no price increase.
Fully biodegradable/compostable biopolymer (ie Vegetable Starch) and certified to the stringent requirements of international standards for compostable plastics – these straws are the next step up by having the option to be commercially composted.
These are real 3-ply Food Grade Kraft Paper Straw, making the straw last well and hold its shape. They contain no waxes and only 0.6% Food Grade glue to make the straw.
These straws meets the required standards that glue must be less than 1%. As a paper straw is made up of natural cellulose fibres it can be universally considered compostable and biodegradable. They are manufactured in a factory holding BSCI certification and to the highest standard.
The paper used for these straws is sourced by a supplier who retains FSC Certification (Forest Stewardship Council).
Alcolizer has made the choice to take an active part in not only positively impact landfill capacity but also assist in reducing long-term harmful impacts of plastics on the environment.
